Receive an SMS directly through your SMPP account via Sim card

Virtual GSM numbers are used to provide two way SMS that can be used for trigger service or SMS on demand services.

To provide highly interactive SMS applications using SMS on demand technology or pull/push services as usually referred to as for example the application can range from something simple like an SMS sent to your virtual GSM number with "bizcard" in the message text can return a text message that contains your personal business card containing your address email mobile number etc you can even take in something like "ringtone123" in a message text and return that ring tone from the database other uses of a virtual are just to be capable of receiving SMS from mobile users to your desktop

There are two types of virtual GSM numbers:

One is referred to as a short code which is usually a premium SMS service where SMS sent to a short code are billed at higher rates and the revenue shared between the operator and the content provider. Messages sent to a Short code can only be from Mobile service areas or specific mobile operators and is usually used within a local area or national service area of that mobile operator or operators and as a result only accessible within that specific area.

The other type is referred to as a long code which is nothing but a normal International mobile number and messages can be received from any location globally

Virtual GSM numbers are normally accessed over the internet and SMS messages are sent and received using an SMPP account from
PoweredSMS.com.

Virtual numbers can be dedicated or shared among several accounts using "keywords".

You can obtain a shared virtual number from
PoweredSMS.com or you can host a dedicated virtual number on your local computer and setup keywords at will

Applications using a Virtual Number Interface (VNI)

You need a virtual number for the setting up the following:

# Triggering text responses from a database
# Triggering ringtones from a database
# Triggering logos pictures
# SMS voting/polling systems
# Personal SMS response systems
# Corporate public SMS response systems
# 3SMS Info on demand services
# Interactive Radio TV and newsprint
# Quiz and SMS polling
# Database responses to field employees

Implementing a two way service is easier said then done for several reasons

It is not possible to get a direct GSM operator SMPP connection for 2 way SMS in most countries. for example you may want a local virtual number in a country where getting it from a GSM operator may be not possible and although it may be possible to get an international GSM number it will not give your enterprise that local presence.
For local based business it is always preferable to get a virtual GSM number with a local numbering scheme and you may not want to have your users send an international SMS to trigger a response for your service

Our answer to all the complexities...

Our unique GSM-SMPP component (VNI) has changed all the complexities by allowing you to host your very own virtual GSM number right on your very own desktop or server. Incoming messages are available by logging into your
PoweredSMS.com SMPP account and replies are also sent using the same account back to the mobile user

When a message is sent to the subscriber number that message is automatically converted into the SMPP protocol and through a internet connection is available as an incoming SMS in your SMS account. The SMS can then be downloaded using your own SMPP client or an application. our SMPP tools and VTM is capable of receiving the SMS
